Once SnAPSA is up and running the aim is to provide direct prevention services, to the communities we work in, for the prevention of HIV infection, the provision of preventative and education programmes relating to HIV/AIDS and other infectious (TB/STIs/Hepatitis) diseases and non-communicable diseases (Hypertension / Diabetes, etc.)
SnAPSA will commence with outreach work within the community to motivate prevention of HIV/STIs/TB and other preventable diseases. This will be done using a peer led education system partnering with local grass roots NGOs. A mobile service for screening for preventable diseases will be initiated, in partnership with the provincial health department so as to support their continued efforts to provide first level care in communities.
Mobile Outreach Services will be started in partnership with the provincial health department. This is to ensure that those that cannot access fixed health services are provided to. There will initially be two outreach teams (trained Peer Educators and Lay Counsellors), each equipped with a Mobile Vehicle and they will be accompanied by an Outreach Nurse. This will enable the teams to offer services similar to the fixed health clinics, but in communities where the poor and needy community members live.
